SCHMITZ TO HIT OPEN MARKET |

Calgary, Alberta, Canada (AP) - Contract talks between Glenn Schmitz and the Calgary Storm have reportedly broken off without resolution, according to ESPN's offseason analyst Paul Powell.
"I've heard Schmitz's camp is asking upwards of $50m over 3 years", Powell said. He continues, "With the team going towards a youth movement, I don't think they see him in their starting lineup and are not willing to pay him starter money."
Schmitz was injured for the first time in his career last season and finished with only 490 at bats. The 2032 season marked the first time since 2020 that he did not drive in 100 runs and hit 40 homers. His batting average has also dipped down below .250 for the past two seasons. Scouts now rate him at 5-4-9-9-4.
Schmitz is currently 3rd in All-Time HR, 1 behind Melvin Townsley with 625. He is only 32 behind Robert Blakey for the All-Time lead. Schmitz is 6th all-time in RBI with 1694 and Top 10 in OPS and SLG%.
